Eyal Gottlieb

Eyal Gottlieb has made contributions to understanding how TCA cycle enzyme mutations (SDH, FH) generate oncometabolites — succinate and fumarate — that drive cancer epigenetic reprogramming and HIF stabilization. His work on how SDH mutations cause paraganglioma/pheochromocytoma and FH mutations cause hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer has contributed to the oncometabolite paradigm and to understanding how metabolic enzyme mutations can function as tumor suppressors.
