Eyal Gottlieb
PhD
Professor of Metabolic Crosstalk in Cancer
👥Biography 个人简介
Eyal Gottlieb at Technion has made distinctive contributions to understanding how mutations in TCA cycle enzymes such as succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) and fumarate hydratase (FH) cause cancer through metabolic reprogramming and oncometabolite accumulation. His research on reductive carboxylation in SDH-deficient cancer cells has characterized adaptive metabolic mechanisms that create therapeutic vulnerabilities. He has pioneered the concept of metabolic synthetic lethality wherein cancer cells with specific metabolic mutations are uniquely sensitive to therapeutic interventions that normal cells tolerate. His work has been influential in defining metabolic genetic interactions as targets for cancer therapy.
