Eros Lazzerini Denchi has elucidated the molecular mechanisms of ALT-associated PML bodies (APBs) and their role in telomere maintenance. His work revealed how DNA damage repair proteins are recruited to APBs to mediate break-induced replication at telomeres in ALT cancers. He has identified key regulators of the ALT pathway that represent therapeutic vulnerabilities in ATRX/DAXX-mutant cancers.
