Eric Small at UCSF has contributed to understanding androgen receptor (AR) biology in CRPC, including the clinical importance of AR splice variants (particularly AR-V7) as mechanisms of resistance to enzalutamide and abiraterone. His work on AR-V7 detection in circulating tumor cells as a predictive biomarker for second-generation AR inhibitor therapy has important implications for treatment sequencing in CRPC.
