Erhard Nagoshi

Erhard Nagoshi has contributed fundamental insights into how peripheral circadian clocks in individual tissues regulate cell proliferation and tumor development, using both Drosophila and mammalian models. His research demonstrated that tissue-autonomous circadian oscillators gate cell cycle progression through cyclin-dependent kinase regulation. He showed that disruption of peripheral clocks in epithelial tissues accelerates tumor initiation and progression independent of systemic circadian cues. His work on circadian-cell cycle coupling has revealed therapeutic windows for chronotherapy optimization.
