👥Biography 个人简介

Emil Frei III was one of the most influential oncologists of the 20th century, pioneering combination chemotherapy approaches that achieved the first cures in childhood acute leukemia. Working at the NCI, he and Emil Freireich developed the VAMP protocol combining multiple chemotherapy agents, demonstrating that combination therapy could induce complete remissions and cures in childhood leukemia. His work established the principle that cancer could be cured with chemotherapy, transforming oncology from a palliative to potentially curative field. He served as physician-in-chief at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
