Emanuele Zucca is the world's foremost authority on MALT (mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma and has defined the standards for Helicobacter pylori eradication as primary therapy for gastric MALT lymphoma. His seminal publications established antibiotic-based treatment as curative for H. pylori-positive gastric MALT lymphoma and described the molecular mechanisms of progression. He chairs the ESMO guidelines committee for marginal zone lymphoma.
