Elli Papaemmanuil at MSK has made major contributions to the genomic characterization of AML and myeloid malignancies, including large-scale genomic analyses revealing the mutational landscape of AML and its clinical implications. Her work on clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) — demonstrating that somatic myeloid mutations accumulate in blood with aging and confer leukemia risk — has been foundational for understanding the precursor biology of myeloid malignancies.
