Ellen Bhatt

Ellen Bhatt studies collagen remodeling in the tumor extracellular matrix and how collagen crosslinking by lysyl oxidases promotes cancer invasion and treatment resistance. Her research has characterized how specific collagen fiber architectures in mammographic density are associated with breast cancer risk and progression. She investigates how inhibiting LOX-mediated collagen crosslinking can reduce tumor stiffness and sensitize cancer to immunotherapy and chemotherapy. Her work bridges cancer biology with biomedical engineering approaches to understand and therapeutically target the physical properties of the tumor matrix.
