Eli Gilboa

Eli Gilboa is a pioneer in cancer immunotherapy who developed foundational concepts and technologies for cancer vaccines, including among the earliest applications of mRNA to antigen delivery for dendritic cell vaccination. His laboratory established that dendritic cells pulsed with tumor-derived mRNA could elicit potent T-cell responses against cancer antigens. This work preceded the cancer mRNA vaccine revolution and provided crucial proof-of-concept for mRNA as an immunological tool. His contributions to understanding dendritic cell biology and cancer antigen presentation have informed the entire cancer vaccine field.
