Elaine Fuchs

Elaine Fuchs at Rockefeller University is a world authority on skin stem cell biology who has made major contributions to understanding how epidermal stem cells give rise to squamous cell carcinomas. Her research on the transcriptional and signaling programs controlling skin cancer stem cell invasion, plasticity, and drug resistance has revealed how cancer co-opts normal stem cell programs to drive malignancy. Her work has implications for skin cancer and broadly for epithelial cancers.
