Donald Morton

Distinguished Professor (Deceased)
👥Biography 个人简介
Donald Morton (1934-2014) developed sentinel lymph node biopsy — the technique of injecting a tracer dye or radioisotope near a cancer to identify and selectively remove only the first-draining lymph node (sentinel node), avoiding full lymph node dissection in node-negative patients. This innovation transformed staging and surgical management in melanoma and breast cancer, reducing morbidity while preserving staging accuracy.
