Juan del Regato was a Cuban-American radiation oncologist who founded one of the first US academic radiation oncology training programs at the Penrose Cancer Hospital. He authored the classic textbook Cancer: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prognosis and mentored a generation of North American radiation oncologists. His legacy is foundational for academic radiation oncology in the United States.
