Dirk De Ruysscher

Dirk De Ruysscher has pioneered isotoxic dose escalation strategies in lung cancer, developing individualized dose prescription based on normal tissue tolerance constraints rather than fixed dose protocols, enabling safe dose intensification to radio-resistant tumor subvolumes. His research on functional lung avoidance radiation therapy uses ventilation and perfusion imaging to preferentially spare functioning lung tissue during thoracic irradiation. He leads multicenter trials combining dose painting with immunotherapy in locally advanced lung cancer.
