👥Biography 个人简介
Catherine de Martel is a scientist at IARC whose meticulous analyses have produced the most widely cited estimates of the fraction of cancers attributable to infections worldwide. Her 2012 and 2020 updates showing that approximately 13% of global cancers are infection-related have been foundational for prioritizing infection-targeted cancer prevention. Her region-specific analyses revealing the disproportionate burden of infection-associated cancers in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia have galvanized investment in cancer prevention in LMICs.
