Peter de Keizer developed the FOXO4-DRI peptide, a targeted senolytic that disrupts the p53-FOXO4 interaction maintaining senescent cell viability, demonstrating proof of concept for protein-protein interaction-based senolytic strategies. His work shows that FOXO4-DRI selectively eliminates chemotherapy-induced senescent cells and restores tissue function in aged mice. He advances peptide-based senolytic therapeutics toward clinical development for cancer adjuvant therapy.
