👥Biography 个人简介

David Vaux co-discovered the role of BCL-2 in inhibiting apoptosis, a breakthrough that established BCL-2 as an oncogene rather than a classical growth-promoting factor. His work demonstrated that t(14;18) translocation in follicular lymphoma drives cancer by blocking programmed cell death rather than by increasing proliferation. He also contributed to identification of the conserved cell death machinery across species. This foundational work enabled the development of BCL-2 inhibitors now used in clinical practice.
