David Thomas is an internationally recognized leader in sarcoma genomics and personalized therapy, directing Australia's national sarcoma research program. His work on the molecular landscape of synovial sarcoma, including the SS18-SSX fusion and its epigenetic consequences, has informed the development of targeted therapies such as EZH2 inhibitors and NY-ESO-1-directed T cell therapies. He co-founded the International Sarcoma Kindred Study (ISKS) to identify inherited predisposition to sarcoma. His translational genomics approach has advanced precision oncology for rare sarcoma subtypes.
