David Palma at Western University led the landmark SABR-COMET randomized trial demonstrating that SABR (stereotactic ablative radiotherapy) to all oligometastases improved overall survival compared to palliative care alone — the first randomized evidence supporting metastasis-directed therapy for oligometastatic disease. This practice-changing trial has transformed management of oligometastatic cancer across multiple histologies.
