David Kirsch has made seminal contributions to understanding how p53 and DNA damage response pathways govern radiation-induced normal tissue injury and cancer cell killing. His work with genetically engineered mouse sarcoma models has redefined the study of radiation effects on solid tumors. He has contributed to the mechanistic biology of FLASH radiation therapy and normal tissue protection strategies.
