David Fisher at MGH has made contributions to melanocyte biology and melanoma carcinogenesis, including elucidating the role of MITF as the master transcription factor of melanocyte differentiation and a key player in melanoma. His work on the mechanisms of UV-induced melanoma carcinogenesis, on MITF as an oncogene in melanoma, and on targeted therapies in melanoma biology has been important for understanding melanoma at its cellular origins.
