David Bhatt
PhD
Associate Professor of Molecular Oncology
👥Biography 个人简介
David Bhatt investigates the biology of micronuclei as byproducts of chromosomal missegregation and their roles in activating cGAS-STING innate immune signaling and driving genomic instability. His research characterized how nuclear envelope rupture in micronuclei exposes chromosomal DNA to cytoplasmic cGAS, triggering STING-mediated inflammatory signaling. He showed that micronuclei also serve as sites of chromothripsis, catastrophic chromosomal rearrangements that accelerate cancer evolution. His work connects chromosome segregation errors to cancer genome evolution and inflammatory tumor microenvironments.
