Daniel F. Hayes

Daniel F. Hayes is a pioneer in circulating tumor cell (CTC) research and one of the world's foremost experts on cancer biomarker validation. His work establishing clinical utility of CTCs in metastatic breast cancer led to the FDA clearance of the CellSearch system, the first liquid biopsy test approved for prognostic use. Hayes has led numerous SWOG and ECOG-ACRIN trials validating biomarker-guided treatment selection and has chaired the ASCO Breast Cancer Guidelines Committee. He is a past president of ASCO and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Foundation, advancing evidence-based standards for biomarker clinical validity.
