David Cunningham led the MAGIC trial establishing perioperative chemotherapy for gastroesophageal cancer, one of the most influential trials in upper GI oncology. His work demonstrated that perioperative ECF chemotherapy improves survival in operable gastric and esophageal adenocarcinoma. This milestone changed global surgical practice for these cancers.
