Carlo Croce discovered that miR-15 and miR-16 are deleted in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, establishing miRNAs as cancer-relevant genes. His laboratory has identified many miRNA-cancer associations and biomarkers. He is one of the founders of the cancer miRNA field.
