Claudius Regaud

Claudius Regaud is credited with discovering the principle of radiation fractionation through experiments demonstrating that dividing radiation into multiple smaller doses could ablate testicular tissue in rams while preserving overlying skin, a finding that became a cornerstone of clinical radiobiology. Working with Henri Coutard at the Institut Curie, he helped establish fractionation as the biological basis for modern radiotherapy schedules.
