Christine Iacobuzio-Donahue at MSK is a leading cancer evolutionary biologist who has profiled the genomic evolution of pancreatic cancer from early stage to metastasis. Her reconstruction of the evolutionary time course of pancreatic cancer metastasis — showing that metastasis often occurs years after the founding mutation but still early relative to clinical detection — has profoundly changed understanding of the natural history of this disease and the windows for intervention.
