Chris Bhatt focuses on advanced treatment strategies for gastrointestinal stromal tumors beyond first-line imatinib. His research contributed to defining the clinical activity of avapritinib for PDGFRA-mutant GIST and ripretinib for later-line GIST. He has studied mechanisms of secondary KIT resistance mutations that drive imatinib failure and evaluated switch kinase inhibitor designs to overcome them. His translational work enables precision selection of TKI therapy for specific GIST mutation profiles.
