Chi Van Dang has made major contributions to understanding how oncogenes like MYC reprogram cancer cell metabolism to support rapid proliferation — including promoting the Warburg effect (aerobic glycolysis), glutamine addiction, and mitochondrial biogenesis. His work on MYC-driven metabolic reprogramming and on HIF-1 as a master regulator of hypoxic metabolism has been foundational for the cancer metabolism field.
