Chen Dong

Prof. Chen Dong co-discovered VISTA (V-domain Ig suppressor of T cell activation) as an immune regulatory receptor expressed primarily on myeloid cells within the tumor microenvironment. He characterized VSIG3 as the VISTA ligand and demonstrated VISTA's role in suppressing T cell activation in a cold tumor context distinct from PD-1. His continued research on myeloid-expressed checkpoints informs strategies to remodel immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments.
