Charles Mullighan discovered Ph-like acute lymphoblastic leukemia as a distinct high-risk subtype with kinase alterations resembling BCR-ABL1 but without the fusion, including CRLF2 rearrangements and JAK-STAT activation. His work enabled kinase-targeted therapy approaches for this high-risk subgroup. He has defined molecular taxonomies of pediatric and adult ALL.
