👥Biography 个人简介

Charles Huggins won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1966 for discovering that prostate cancer growth is dependent on androgens, and that surgical or chemical castration could cause tumor regression. His 1941 discovery established the principle that cancer can be controlled by manipulating hormonal environments, founding the concept of hormonal therapy for cancer. His work on androgen deprivation therapy revolutionized prostate cancer treatment and established the endocrine control of cancer as a therapeutic principle. His discoveries extend to breast cancer and other hormone-driven malignancies.
