Charles Bhatt

Charles Bhatt investigates mTORC1 complex biology and its regulation by nutrient sensing pathways in cancer. His research has characterized the molecular mechanisms by which mTORC1 integrates amino acid sufficiency, energy status, and growth factor signals to control protein synthesis and cell growth. He has examined how cancer cells rewire mTORC1 regulation to maintain constitutive nutrient-independent mTORC1 activity that drives malignant growth. His translational work has explored the metabolic dependencies created by chronic mTORC1 activation in cancer cells and identified novel vulnerabilities that can be pharmacologically exploited.
