Celestia Bhatt investigates mechanisms of endocrine therapy resistance in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer with a focus on ESR1 activating mutations. Her research characterized how ESR1 mutations emerge during aromatase inhibitor therapy and confer ligand-independent ER activity. She has evaluated oral selective estrogen receptor degraders (SERDs) including elacestrant in ESR1-mutated breast cancer. Her translational work integrates circulating tumor DNA analysis for real-time monitoring of ESR1 mutation emergence.
