Cedric Blanpain has used lineage tracing to define cells of origin for squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and mammary tumors. His studies reveal how tissue hierarchies determine tumor phenotype and aggressiveness. He leads a major stem cell and cancer laboratory at ULB.
