Catherine Piennar

Catherine Piennar is a specialist in colposcopy and loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP/LLETZ) for the treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Her clinical and research work has focused on the efficacy and safety of LEEP in high-burden settings, including outcomes in HIV-positive women with high-grade cervical lesions. She has contributed to training programs and standardization of colposcopy practice in Southern Africa. Her work supports WHO recommendations for LEEP as the preferred treatment for CIN in resource-constrained environments.
