Carol Greider
PhD
Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics
👥Biography 个人简介
Carol Greider co-discovered telomerase in 1984 while a graduate student in Elizabeth Blackburn's laboratory, work that led to the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. She characterized how telomerase adds repetitive DNA sequences to chromosome ends to maintain genome integrity. Her research revealed that telomerase dysregulation drives cancer cell immortality. She has also studied telomere diseases including dyskeratosis congenita.
