Carl June is the pioneer of CAR-T cell therapy at the University of Pennsylvania, having developed the first clinically successful CD19-targeted CAR-T cells for B cell malignancies. His laboratory continues to engineer next-generation CAR constructs including armored CARs and gene-edited universal CAR-T cells. His foundational work has transformed hematologic oncology and catalyzed the broader CAR-T industry.
