Judith Campisi

Judith Campisi is the foundational scientist in cellular senescence and cancer, having demonstrated the dual role of senescence as both tumor suppressive and tumor promoting through the senescence-associated secretory phenotype. Her characterization of therapy-induced senescence showed that chemotherapy and radiation create senescent cells whose SASP promotes cancer recurrence, providing the rationale for senolytic adjuvant therapy.
