Atul Butte

Atul Butte is a biomedical data scientist at UCSF whose research has pioneered the use of large-scale computational approaches, including natural language processing and language models, for mining electronic health records and biomedical literature for cancer insights. His work on drug repurposing using AI-driven analysis of genomic and clinical data has identified novel cancer therapeutic opportunities. His leadership in translational bioinformatics has been foundational for integrating AI technologies including LLMs into cancer research workflows.
