Powel Brown

Powel Brown has been a leader in translating hormonal cancer prevention strategies from bench to bedside, directing clinical trials of aromatase inhibitors and selective estrogen receptor modulators for cancer prevention and investigating the effects of hormonal modulation on cancer risk across multiple organ systems. His work at MD Anderson Cancer Center has defined the role of estrogen signaling in promoting premalignant lesion progression and has identified biomarkers that predict response to hormonal prevention interventions. His research has established the scientific basis for extending hormonal prevention strategies to cancers beyond the breast.
