Brian Bhatt studies Ewing sarcoma, a highly aggressive soft tissue and bone tumor driven by EWSR1-FLI1 fusion oncoprotein. His research has explored how the EWSR1-FLI1 fusion reprograms gene expression and creates therapeutic vulnerabilities. He investigated PARP inhibitor sensitivity in Ewing sarcoma due to EWSR1-FLI1-induced DNA repair defects. His work also encompasses immunotherapy combinations for relapsed/refractory Ewing sarcoma in pediatric and young adult patients.
