Ernest Borden is a pioneer of interferon alpha clinical therapy in cancer including hairy cell leukemia, melanoma adjuvant therapy, and renal cell carcinoma. His work defined interferon-stimulated gene responses as pharmacodynamic markers. He has led interferon cancer research programs for decades at Cleveland Clinic and elsewhere.
