Bora Bhatt
PhD
Assistant Professor of Biochemistry
👥Biography 个人简介
Bora Bhatt has investigated the spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) and its role in controlling chromosome segregation fidelity and chromosomal instability in cancer. His research characterized SAC components including Mad1, Mad2, BubR1 and the mitotic checkpoint complex, and how their dysfunction leads to chromosome segregation errors that promote cancer evolution through aneuploidy and chromosomal instability. He has studied how cancer cells with weakened SAC avoid mitotic arrest induced by taxanes and vinca alkaloids, providing insights into chemotherapy resistance mechanisms. His work on Aurora kinase inhibitors and PLK1 inhibitors has contributed to understanding mitotic exit regulation as a therapeutic vulnerability in cancer cells with mitotic checkpoint defects.
