Dr. Billy Loo is a leading researcher in FLASH radiotherapy -- an emerging technique delivering radiation at ultrahigh dose rates (>40 Gy/s) that appears to spare normal tissue while maintaining tumor control. He has conducted preclinical and early clinical FLASH studies and is a principal investigator in the first-in-human proton FLASH trial. His work on the biological mechanisms underlying the FLASH effect is at the frontier of radiation oncology.
