Bharat Bhatt investigates tumor-infiltrating regulatory T cells and how they create an immunosuppressive niche that limits antitumor immunity. His research has characterized the phenotypic and functional heterogeneity of tumor Tregs across different cancer types. He has studied mechanisms by which CTLA-4 antibodies deplete tumor-infiltrating Tregs via Fc receptor-dependent killing. His work has informed strategies for selective Treg depletion in tumors while preserving peripheral immune tolerance.
