Bharat Bhanu at Chicago has focused on pancreatic cancer stem cell biology and their role in treatment resistance and metastasis. His research identified ALDH+ populations as enriched cancer stem cell populations in PDAC with enhanced tumor-forming and metastatic capacity. Understanding pancreatic CSC characteristics and their dependencies is essential for developing treatments that address the treatment-refractory CSC population responsible for PDAC relapse.
