Beth Bhatt investigates the interplay between lysosomal signaling and autophagy regulation in cancer cells, with a focus on how mTORC1 localization to the lysosomal membrane coordinates nutrient sensing with autophagic flux. Her research has revealed how TFEB-driven lysosomal biogenesis programs are hijacked by cancer cells to enhance autophagic capacity under metabolic stress. She has developed novel assays for measuring autophagy flux in patient tumor samples. Her work bridges basic autophagy biology with translational applications in cancer therapy.
