Bertrand Routy at CHUM has conducted pioneering clinical trials of fecal microbiota transplant to restore favorable gut microbiome composition in cancer patients with primary resistance to PD-1 blockade. His landmark FMT trial in melanoma demonstrated that transplanting feces from IO-responders into non-responders could convert some patients to responders. He is a global leader in applying microbiome therapeutics to oncology.
