Benjamin Izar has applied single-cell multi-omics approaches to reveal epigenetic mechanisms of MHC silencing in immunotherapy-resistant cancers. His work demonstrated that EZH2-mediated histone methylation represses MHC-I genes in melanoma, establishing epigenetic drugs as a strategy to restore antigen presentation. He has generated comprehensive single-cell atlases of the tumor immune microenvironment that define the landscape of immune evasion programs.
